Step 1 - Low Emission Zone Retrofit Fund

To address local air quality and improve public health, Low Emission Zones (LEZs) have been introduced to the cities of Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, and Aberdeen. LEZs restrict the vehicles entering the zones based on emission standards; older more polluting vehicles will be unable to enter without penalty following an initial grace period.

To support the transition to meet LEZ requirements, Transport Scotland is offering eligible businesses 70% funding per vehicle (to a cap value depending on vehicle and solution type) to retrofit their vehicle to meet zone standards through the LEZ Retrofit Fund administered by Energy Saving Trust.

Step 2 - Business eligibility check

This fund is available to eligible micro businesses and sole traders.

A micro business is an organisation including sole traders that:

  • Employs nine or fewer full time equivalent employees
  • Records a turnover of £632,000 or less, or a balance sheet of up to £316,000 in the preceding and current financial year

Step 3 - Vehicle eligibility check

Please confirm you have checked the CVRAS of list solutions and a suitable solution is available for your vehicle
Please confirm the vehicle type you wish to retrofit

Please confirm which zones the vehicle you wish to Retrofit regularly enters

Step 4 - Other commitments

Important: This fund is currently closed to new applications.

I/the business is the owner of the vehicle

I/the business have the right to retrofit the vehicle and no finance is outstanding

I/the business have not received funding to purchase a new vehicle from the following in the last six months: Switched on Taxi Loan or Low Carbon Transport Loan

I/the business have not previously received funding under the Low Emission Zone Retrofit Fund to retrofit any vehicles and no existing valid grant offers are in place.
